With Dancer I wanted to capture the exuberant feeling I get when I dance.  She is wild with joy, colors fly out of her head.  When my group does improvisational dance, we open, loosen our bodies and shake free from ordinary life.  We escape words and play with the language of movement.  It is community in pure form.

She says:

“To dance is to live. I skip and roll, twirl, flop and drop, undulate, sway and swirl. I am alive in my body, I am at home, I am free. I dance and the world evaporates. Boundaries dissolve, me and thee and they are the same. I am Breath, I am Being, I am Play, I am pure joy. I am surrender and exuberance, Zen and Mardi Gras.”
