The Wimberley Place

Weekend retreats are held at The Wimberley Place, our little weekend place three miles from the Wimberley square. Nestled in the heart of Texas Hill Country, we have privacy, a view, a big deck and a pool. Nothing fancy, but a comfortable, colorful and fun little place on 7 hikeable acres with birds and deer. There are beds for eight.

Midweek evening workshops are held at Peg's studio, located off FM 2222 near Mt. Bonnell and easy to find.

April 2005

Transformative Mask Making Retreat

Friday, April 8 – Sunday, April 10

Learn to make a personal mask that can change your life. By immersing yourself into the process of both making the base and decorating it you are likely to discover parts of yourself that were previously unknown - and that's a good thing! This gentle process teaches us to honor the entirety of who we are. Come willing to open yourself to new possibilities.

Making the base is so relaxing it feels a bit like getting a facial. We make the base Friday evening, let it dry overnight, then on Saturday you'll decorate it in a way that has significance to your life. In the evening we have a talking circle to share what we have learned from the process. Men and Women.

Cost: $150, includes food, lodging and supplies

September 2005

Creativity in Nature Retreat

Friday, September 30 – Sunday, October 2

At this retreat we will use natural found objects to create a sculpture or piece of artwork. As a group we will decide what we are going to make, gather the stones, sticks, bark chips, leaves or other objects and create a temporary "Andy Goldsworthy" type piece. Discussion about temporary art will follow: If we make art in the woods and no one sees it, is it still art?

Cost: $125, includes food, lodging and supplies

November 2005

Autumn Mask Making Retreat

Friday, November 4 – Sunday, November 6

As the season changes, this is a good time to invigorate yourself by making a transformative mask. We will gather on Friday evening to get to know each other and begin the process of making our mask base. Weather permitting, we may build a bonfire for toasting marshmallows afterward. Saturday morning we decorate our masks using some of the many boxes of supplies Peg provides or using natural found objects. Saturday evening we have a talking circle to show what we made and what we learned from that process. Sunday morning is spent leisurely and we leave after brunch.

Cost: $150, includes food, lodging and supplies
